Dead Flowers

By Aurora Sliverstone

Dead Flowers

Petals once soft and bright

Now turned dry and dull

Your heads lifted high

Now permanently downcast

Sweet scent has faded

Brilliant colors gone

The petals texture of silk

Replaced with brittle paper

Though saddened at the state

Who could forget your earlier day

Your bright, bold colors

Your heads held high

Lighting up the room more than the sun

Given as a gift

Out of love and thoughtfulness

Now thinking back

You’re not really dead

In a different sense

You are still alive
